Instructions for use:
Brush the fur around the tick aside. Guide the "Tick away" from the side under the tick until it is precisely in the existing slot. Secure the tick with light pressure precisely in the guide. The tick can be easily removed by a levering motion or by simply pulling it out. The skin area should be thoroughly disinfected after removal.
Caution: If the tick cannot be completely removed, please consult a veterinarian.
General information about ticks:
Ticks are most active during the warmer months from May to August. From this time on, every dog and cat owner should be equipped with a suitable instrument to safely remove ticks. Ticks live mainly in the low herbaceous layer of meadows, in the undergrowth, and at forest edges. To reach their hosts, they crawl up grass stalks or in bushes up to about one meter high. From there, they drop or brush off onto passing animals or people, which they perceive with the help of heat and chemical stimuli. Ticks can transmit dangerous pathogens. However, these must first multiply in the tick during a blood meal before they can be transmitted to the pet with the tick's saliva. Therefore, if ticks are removed several hours after attaching, there is a good chance of protecting the animal from infection. When removing, the following points should be observed:
- Do not drizzle the tick with oil, glue, or similar substances.
- Grip the tick's head as close to the skin as possible with special tick tweezers and twist or pull the tick out whole.
- Do not press on the tick's body.
- Disinfect the bite site afterwards with a suitable wound ointment.
